Albion's fourth season in the Premier League ended in the disappointment of relegation, but 2008/09 was anything but forgettable. Where previous relegation seasons had been wars of attrition ultimately lost, this time the Throstles went out in a blaze of glory, playing some incendiary football that won the club friends, the length and breadth of the top division. Playing in a style reminiscent of the days of Regis, Cunningham, Brown and Statham, Albion were among the division's great entertainers. With Greening directing the midfield traffic, Olsson marshalling the defence and Brunt banging in the goals, the Baggies were always worth watching. This wasn't just football. This was Albion football. The beautiful game was back in the Black Country.
