The first of many fruitful collaborations between John Ford and Henry Fonda, Drums Along the Mohawk is a pulsating adventure yarn set in the American colonial period.

Gilbert and Lana Martin (Fonda and Claudette Colbert) are a young couple trying to lay down roots in New York`s Mohawk Valley. Initially struggling to adapt to the hardships of frontier life, with the birth of their son and the success of their crops they finally look set to make a home and raise a family. However, a band of marauding Indians soon threaten their lives and livelihood.

Presenting a characteristically Fordian view of community, heroism and self-sacrifice and featuring pioneering use of the recently developed Technicolor process, the film, which ranks amongst the director`s finest, was nominated for three Academy Awards.
