She explains that people sometimes pretend to be things they aren't, but the little girl meets so many wonderful friends in the forest - Fawn, Mr Beaver and Thrush - that she forgets her mother's warnings. When the nasty wolf befriends her, she tells him where she is heading only to find, when she arrives at her Grandma's cottage, that the wolf is waiting for her.
