The story begins in 1951, in a small village in Gujrat, which Gurukant leaves for a new life in Turkey. He comes back, marries the ‘elder’ ‘fallen’ woman (Aishwarya Rai) just so that he can get a dowry as capital to start a business in Bombay. They move to Bombay and his small business becomes an empire….along the way he makes friends and enemies….Nanaji (Mithun Chakravarty) is an upright influential person who owns a news paper The Indepandent.. when Gurukant uses his newspaper to achieve his business motives Nanaji swears to bring him down, a rivalry of epic proportions unfolds …..which breaks Gurukanth and ultimately disintegrates his empire…
Abhishek, puts in the performance of his life and changes his appearance and looks in sync with the ageing Gurukanth. Aishwarya weighs in with an equally fiery performance as Gurukanth’s wife.
