After the death of her mother, Alice McKinley has to move to a new town because of her father buying a new store. She finds thing tough in her new home town and struggles to adjust to her new school. To escape this, Alice frequently recoils into a vivid dream-world that can lead her to getting into trouble. With a little help from her stern teacher Mrs. Plotkin, Alice learns to grow up and also helps her father to get over the loss of his wife.
