Where nature first is second nature. Dirtgirl is a gumboot-wearing girl, she grows tomatoes, knows cloud names and drives a big orange tractor. She loves to sing and dance and put her hands in the dirt. She digs, weeds, plants and pushes her wheelbarrow and loves it best when she's outside. Scrapboy lives next door and has been dirtgirl's best friend forever. He invents stuff, is a whiz with junk and has a tool for every job and a million good ideas. He also loves to be outside. Ken is a super stunt star weevil. He lives in shoe box house on dirtgirl's window sill. He wears a red crash hat and is always getting ready to perform his latest stunt. He likes dancing, Tia Chi and is scared of butterflies and bees but not cows. Grubby the worm eats dirt for breakfast, lives underground and doesn't mind dirt in her eyes. She is always dreaming up new and exciting stunts for Ken the weevil to perform. Grubby looks like she has two heads but the secret is...one end is actually her bottom! Hayman is a scarecrow and he knows everything that's going on - well he thinks he does but he doesn't say a lot. Actually he only ever says one word "Hey" And there's Roger & the chicks which of course are not normal chicks, they are fabulous performers and fire-fighters.
