Macy Gray - Live In Las Vegas (DVD)

Macy Gray's unique, sandpapery voice--something of a cross between Erykah Badu and Eartha Kitt--and her mixing of vintage soul values with a more contemporary sound, earned her a 2001 Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (for the song "I Try"). LIVE IN LAS VEGAS captures Gray performing three years later, on November 18, 2004 at the Vegas venue House of Blues. In the course of her 17-song set, Gray performs early favourites like 'I Try' and 'Sweet Baby' alongside later efforts such as 'Things That Made Me Change'. Updating old-school RnB with a few modern touches, Gray's sound is part hip-hop, and part rock. While belting out material from across her first two albums, Gray matches her vivacious sound with an equally eccentric and colourful style, personality, and lyrical sensibility.
