Oscar-winners Halle Berry (Monster's Ball, Die Another Day) and Benicio Del Toro (Traffic, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) give stunning performances in the critically-acclaimed Things We Lost In The Fire, a moving story of the triumph of hope and happiness from the depths of despair, coming to DVD from July 14 2008, from Paramount Home Entertainment. In this powerful film, directed by Oscar-nominated Susanne Bier, Berry plays Audrey Burke, a woman whose life has suddenly been shattered by the death of her husband (David Duchovny) in a random act of violence. Lost in grief and left alone to raise her two children, Audrey impulsively invites her husband's closest friend Jerry (Del Toro) to move into the family home, hoping he can help them cope with their loss. Jerry however, has plenty of problems of his own as a former drug addict facing a daily battle to find the inner resilience just to save himself. As Jerry and Audrey navigate grief and denial, facing their crises together makes each of them stronger and the development of their relationship is both extraordinarily touching as well as surprisingly humorous. Produced by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty), recently recognised for his skills as executive producer of the widely-acclaimed The Kite Runner, Things We Lost In The Fire explores the human strength to move forward and the courage to hope.
