Get Some In is set in 1955 when national service was compulsory. The series revolves around four men from contrasting backgrounds, each of whom had received his call-up papers - Jakey Smith (Robert Lindsay) who was a reformed teddy boy
Bruce Leckie, a Scot without much brain power
Ken Richardson, a former grammar school pupil
and Matthew Lilley, the son of a vicar and so, in military mindset, appropriately, something of a lily-livered character.
Posted to 'C' Flight at RAF Skelton, but swiftly nicknamed the 'erks', the four swiftly come face to face with their permanent adversary, drill instructor Corporal Marsh, a nasty, mean, petty-minded and very vocal piece of work who loathes and despises the 'erks'.
