In this musical remake of The Philadelphia Story, beautiful, aloof Newport heiress Tracy Lord (Grace Kelly) is about to marry bland businessman George Kittredge (John Lund). However, matters become complicated when her ex-husband C.K. Dexter-Haven (Bing Crosby) moves to her neighbourhood determined to win back her hand. Things go from bad to worse for Tracy when journalist Mike Connor (Frank Sinatra) arrives to cover the wedding for Spy Magazine. When Tracy is forced to choose between her suitors, will she realise that "safe" doesn't always mean the best bet?
The sophisticated Cole Porter score is brought to life when Crosby and Sinatra perform their only on-screen duet 'Well, Did You Evah?' while the unmistakable voices of Crosby and Louis Armstrong combine memorably in 'Now You Has Jazz'. Sinatra and Celese Holm ask 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' and Kelly, in her last film role before she became Princess Grace of Monaco, sings with Crosby on the film's hit ballad 'True Love'.
